Our expert guide will first lead us to the Fort of San Diego where we will enjoy a guided visit. This fort, built in 1616 by the Spaniards to protect the port from pirates, is the most important maritime fortress on the Pacific and part of a number of garrisons built by the Spanish Crown to protect their possessions in New Spain from pirate attacks. The museum exhibits Acapulco's history and also the cultural interchange with the east.
Visit the Municipal Market of Acapulco. The place where the locals go to get their groceries, fruits and vegetables, chicken, meat and fish. Afterwards, we will go to the Main Square and the Cathedral heading towards Diego Rivera’s Mural, created by the Mexican artist on the front facade of Casa de los Vientos, owned by a famous art collector and Diego's muse: Dolores Olmedo. This beautiful mural is dedicated to Quetzalcoatl.
Enjoy a brief explanation of the mural and then continue to La Quebrada. Here, we will delight in the Cliff Divers Show at La Quebrada, the impressive 112 ft cliff where brave natives perform a diving spectacle. The real challenge is finding the right moment to jump. Admission to "La Terraza" is included. You can also watch the show from La Perla restaurant inside El Mirador Hotel with a drink for only 10 USD per person approx.
